All are invited to join the Explore Livingston Coalition for a Happy Hour Celebration on Wednesday, January 28th from 4 to 6:30 pm at the Elks Lodge. Explore Livingston is launching their Strategic Plan Economic Resilience through Collaboration (referred to as “the Plan”), which is the culmination of years of research and stakeholder involvement addressing current and future needs.
Why do we need a Strategic Plan? Tourism is Park County’s largest economic driver, contributing an estimated $500,000 million annually. With surging visitation, infrastructure and housing pressures, workforce volatility, and climate-related risks, this is an opportunity to shape our community’s visitor-based economy in the coming decades to serve both residents and visitors.
The Vision: A thriving Livingston where the visitor-based economy enhances local quality of life, supports resilient businesses year-round, and safeguards the natural amenities, historical landmarks, and cultural resources that define the region.
The Plan is based on 1,450 community survey responses, 40 + collaborators, and 80 + utilized sources. There are 50 pages of summarized studies and plans, including a single infographic page that illustrates the Plan process, partners and solutions that will be distributed, along with limited copies of the 6-page Plan summary. The full Plan is digital and includes links to the extensive research, data, studies, references, priorities, and collaborations.
The Plan includes an overview of tourism’s role in Livingston’s economy, culture, and community identity and a strategic vision developed by the Explore Livingston Coalition (Destination Management Organization/DMO, Tourism Business Improvement District/TBID, and Downtown Livingston Business Improvement District/LBID) with all three boards having approved the Plan. The Plan priorities are 1) Economic Development: slower season product development & marketing 2) Attainable Housing: collaboration to address housing needs 3) Funding for Rivers, Roads & Rescue: solutions for infrastructure demands and impacts 4) Informed & Responsible Practices: education for tourists and new residents, and 5) Visitor-Economy Resilience: emergency response protocols and exploration of diversified funding mechanisms.
