The Park County Land Trust (PCLT) is proud to announce the creation of its new Conservation Assistance Fund, a dedicated funding initiative designed to help local landowners protect their properties through conservation easements.

One of the most significant barriers to placing conservation easements on smaller properties is the financial cost associated with completing the process. Expenses such as surveys, legal services, technical advisory support, and required endowment funding can make conservation financially out of reach for many landowners. Without assistance, many important Park County properties may remain unprotected.

To address this challenge, PCLT has established the Conservation Assistance Fund to provide direct financial support to qualifying landowners for costs associated with establishing conservation easements. By reducing these financial barriers, the fund aims to expand conservation opportunities and preserve the agricultural lands, wildlife habitat, open space, and scenic landscapes that define Park County.

The Conservation Assistance Fund is a restricted fund. All monetary contributions will be used exclusively to cover direct expenses related to the establishment of conservation easements. Eligible costs may include surveying and legal fees, technical advisory services, easement endowment contributions, and other associated transaction costs.

All funding requests will be reviewed by the PCLT Conservation Committee, which will evaluate projects and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. Final funding decisions will be made by majority vote of the Board.
