The Blue Slipper Theatre is proud to announce its upcoming production of Moonchildren, the celebrated, wit-filled play by Michael Weller, running from April 10th to April 19th.

Moonchildren is a poignant, often bitter, and deeply humorous examination of a generation in transition. Set against the backdrop of 1965 to 1966, a turbulent era in America, the story follows eight college students living together, navigating the complexities of emerging adulthood, romantic illusions, and the need to establish ethics in a hostile world.

Director (Tessa Welsch) quote: “Moonchildren by Michael Weller centers around eight college students sharing a tiny apartment in 1965. They're about to graduate and need to figure out what to do next. Romantic relationships, grades, the Vietnam War, trying to be “successful” and trying to be “relevant” all add to the pressures of being 22. The members of our rag tag group cope differently, ranging from humours, distraction to self-destructive confrontation.”

“As an audience, we have the privilege of witnessing each person grapple as individuals and the moments they come together. Moonchildren shows us a parallel time of nationwide instability and the complexities of navigating it. My hope is that we find solace in these characters who are looking for hope in the unknown, side by side.”
