Emmy-winning illustrator and filmmaker Bryan Schaeffer will debut his new book series, The Snow Day, with a special Pray for Snow Edition—an exclusive pre-release for Montanans launching at winter celebrations this December.
The Pray for Snow Edition features three new titles—The Snow Day: A Yellowstone Adventure Picture Book, The Snow Day Coloring Book, and The Snow Day Young Adult Novel—available only at local live events ahead of their nationwide release. Each limited-edition copy includes a collectible “Pray for Snow” sticker and early access to the upcoming Made in Montana short film supported in part by the Montana Film Office Big Sky Film Grant, premiering fall 2026.
Local Launch Events
Bozeman Symphony Winter Concert Series—Friday, December 12th — Sunday, December 14th
Books will be available at the Willson venue, with proceeds helping fund production of the Made in Montana short film.
Coinciding with these events, Outside Bozeman Magazine will publish Here & Now: Lessons Learned & Familial Bonds Forged on Frozen Ground by writer Leah Veress, featuring illustrations by Schaeffer. The story follows a father and daughter’s annual ski adventure through Yellowstone’s Mammoth Terraces—a reflection of the same Montana spirit that fuels The Snow Day project.
“The Snow Day is about creativity, resilience, and that sense of wonder we all rediscover in winter,” says Schaeffer. “This local launch is our way of thanking the Montana community that inspires and supports these stories.”
Following the Pray for Snow Edition events, The Snow Day series will officially release nationwide in March 2026 through select independent bookstores, beginning in Bozeman.
