The Annual Yellowstone River Boat Float is held the 2nd full weekend of July every year. The 62nd Annual Float this year will be July 11th-13th. There is no charge to participate. Take in the peaceful scenery that runs along Interstate 90 without the automobile traffic, at your own pace. Enjoy the river that is cobbled, with braided channels, with bald eagles, poplar and cottonwood trees, mountains and valleys. No sign up—just show up. You can float one, two or three days if you like. You’ll meet anglers, cowboys, ranchers, hikers, rednecks and campers along with a few river rats (dedicated river folks). Everyone is super friendly and neighborly.
This family-friendly 3-day float starts at the Mayor’s Landing access in Livingston at 8:30 am on Friday, July 13th. The first day ends in Big Timber at the Otter Creek access.
On Saturday morning the floaters hit the water at 9 am and head to the next stop at the Indian Fort Campground access. Stick around and meet fellow floaters for a gathering at the Waterhole, in downtown Reed Point. The final launch is on Sunday, July 15th and brings the journey to its final destination in Columbus.
You can float for one, two or all three days if you like. More info will be available on their Facebook page as they get closer to the event.
