On September 11th, the Danforth Museum of Art (DMA) will open an exhibit previewing the forty curated artworks to be auctioned at the Big Bend Live Art Auction on Saturday, September 26th at the Livingston Depot Center.
Showcasing the finest art of the New West, the Big Bend Fine Art Auction marks the culmination of ArtWeek Park County— an annual week-long celebration of the region's creative legacy and a community-wide effort to connect people through the arts.
The Big Bend Fine Art Auction takes its name from the sweeping bend of the Yellowstone River that has long shaped the landscape, history, and identity of our region. Like the river itself, art reflects a journey – shaped by place, perspective, and experience. The artists selected for the auction were chosen for their ability to capture and interpret the spirit of this remarkable place. Through painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and other disciplines, they bring unique perspectives rooted in the landscapes, people, and stories of the American West.
Guests are invited to meet and greet participating artists at an opening reception on Friday, September 11th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Danforth Museum of Art. The featured works will be on view at the DMA from September 11–25.
Additional works will be available through the silent auction, opening Friday, September 11th at the Livingston Center for Art and Culture and closing at the Depot Center during the Big Bend Fine Art Auction on Saturday, September 26th.
ArtWeek Park County and its capstone Big Bend Fine Art Auction is a collaborative effort of the Livingston Depot Center, the Livingston Center for Art and Culture, and the Danforth Museum of Art.
