All submissions for our opinion-editorial section must adhere to the following requirements:
- The word-count restriction for opinion-editorial submissions is 600 words maximum; letters to the editor may contain no more than 300 words.
- No hostile or inflammatory language; your passion is welcome but with constraints at our discretion. You may offer constructive criticism but do not insult, disparage or mock.
- All submissions must contain valid information verified by the author using a credible source referenced within the article. If a statistic, purported fact or historical reference is cited as supporting evidence for a claim, please specify the source. Editor reserves the right to refuse publication if validation conditions are not satisfied.
- Please use direct statements only when quoting individuals and avoid paraphrasing. Direct quotes must be contextualized, including date, location and any other relevant details important for understanding the quoted speaker’s intention. No anonymous quoting.
- Do not plagiarize or use artificial intelligence to write your submission. All submissions must be original to the individual submitting the piece.
- Please use precise language and avoid terms or phrases that may mislead readers.
- Writing about some topics (e.g., politics, science, education etc.) requires prerequisite knowledge about the subject. For example, writing about municipal government may require knowledge about the legal system—how laws, for instance, are designed to enforce the conduct of governing officials. Please educate yourself before making uninformed statements about these topics.
- We reserve the right to request any changes regarding the above requirements prior to publication.
We appreciate your cooperation moving forward. If you have any comments, questions or concerns, please contact our managing editor at tony@pccjournal.com.
