It’s officially 2027 scholarship season: Applications for the Most Valuable Student Scholarships is now open! No relation to an Elks member is necessary for high-school seniors to win one of these national scholarships, which range from $4,000 to $30,000 over four years. Four will be awarded to students from Montana. (Not to be confused with the local Lodge #246’s scholarships, see end of article for info.)

HERE ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

º Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.

º Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks.

º High school graduates are not eligible to apply.

º Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are submitted; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.

º Scholarships are available only to students who enroll in four-year undergraduate degree programs at accredited U.S. American colleges or universities.

Ranging from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.

The 2027 application deadline is November 12th at 11:59 pm, Pacific Time. So head online to Elks.org/scholars/scholarships/mvs.cfm and start your application today!

The Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation will announce the national winners of the 2027 contest in April 2027.

The local Lodge #246 also has four $1000 scholarships available to area youth, which can be applied for through the local high schools. See your school’s guidance counselor or email scholarship@elks.org.
