Malou Flato's dynamic landscapes and botanical paintings are the feature show at The Frame Garden, opening August 28th with an artist’s reception during the Livingston Art Walk, 5:30 pm to 8 pm. While Flato paints in a variety of media she will be featuring primarily works in oil in this show.
Over the course of her career, Flato has worked in a variety of media, intricately painted tile installations, large scale watercolor, acrylic on Japanese paper, along with the oil paint that is primarily used in this exhibit. Flato is known for her work of the western landscape and flora. Originally from Texas, she also has a home in Paradise Valley where she has been painting for decades.
The flowers and leaves seem to shimmer in the breeze in her pieces. The skill she has in painting the lighting on a piece brings them alive, whether that is a reflection in water, the sheen on a leaf, or the dance of water in a waterfall.
Flato says of her work, "For me, the great thing about being an artist is the feeling that I have yet to complete my best painting. Everything I make is still very fresh. "
The exhibit will be at The Frame Garden, 101 S. Main Street in Livingston, through September 19th.
