Elk River Arts & Lectures and Elk River Books present an evening with Ehrlich, a nature writer, poet, and essayist, whose work explores the effect of climate change on fragile environments. This free event will take place Wednesday, September 16th  at 7 pm at The Shane Center Dulcie Theater, 415 E Lewis Street in Livingston. Doors open at 6:30 pm with remarks at 7 pm.

This event will be a celebration of Ehrlich’s A Solace of Open Spaces (1985), a critically acclaimed collection of narrative essays that chronicles her life working on remote Wyoming sheep and cattle ranches. Born out of the author's grief following the death of her partner, Solace captures the rugged beauty and profound isolation of the American West.

Over a distinguished four-decade career, Ehrlich has authored more than 15 books, including her bestselling memoir A Match to the Heart—which details her survival and recovery after being struck by lightning—and This Cold Heaven: Seven Seasons in Greenland, a narrative of her two decades traveling by dogsled with Indigenous Inuit hunters. Ehrlich has been granted a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Whiting Award, and the PEN/Henry David Thoreau Prize for nature writing, and her book Facing the Wave was longlisted for the National Book Award.

For those who can’t attend in person, the event will live-stream on the Elk River Books YouTube channel. For more information, email info@elkriverbooks.com or call (406) 333-2330.
