June 26th Exhibition Celebrates Growth, Becoming, and Emerging Creative Voices
Wheatgrass Books will kick off the 2026 Art Walk season on Friday, June 26th, with Born Foal, a group exhibition curated by Dixie Hall and Ellianna Wester that explores the uncertain, exhilarating space between who we are and who we are becoming.
ABOUT THE SHOW: Rooted in the feeling of a season changing, Born Foal embraces the tender in-between moments of growth. The foal serves as a symbol of finding one's footing—when legs begin to steady, instincts awaken, and the path forward starts to take shape. It is the bridge between youthful foolishness and the realities of true life, between the hunger to keep growing up and the longing to grow back down.
Featuring the work of emerging and established artists, the exhibition highlights young creatives discovering their artistry and passions one shaky leg at a time. Like foals finding fulfillment on the Montana plains, these artists are learning to run in their own wide-open way.
Participating artists include:
- Dixie Hall
- Ellianna Wester
- Halaina Vashisth
- Braden Pratt
- Leslie Gregory
- Sula Duncan
- McCrae Wester
- Josie Parry
- Luka Dombrowski
- Corrina Harrower
- Chris Anderson
- Violet Kreilick
- Silas Savoia
- Lydia Steinhoff
The evening will also feature live music throughout the night with a set by Gatesss and Corri with their original music and featuring songs from mccrae_ilovemusic. Mudrat will be bringing the night a smooth jam. This mix of experimental, witchhouse, folk, and various other styles will be opening for the local up and coming punk band, Vanity. The tunes of the night compliment Born Foal’s examination of growth and becoming, with a side of burning artistic urges.
Together, the visual art and music create a celebration of artistic emergence, creative risk-taking, and the restless urge to become something new.
ABOUT THE CURATORS: Ellianna Wester is from Livingston, where she still spends much of her time, though she is now enjoying the experiences of college life in Bozeman. Three years ago, as she sat upstairs at Wheatgrass making her college decision, this path was not what she had envisioned. Yet the unexpected journey has brought her light, love, and learning in abundance.
Throughout it all, her friendship with Dixie Hall has been a constant source of connection and reflection. Together, they have shaped Born Foal, a show rooted in growth, transition, and becoming. Ellianna is both excited and deeply grateful for the opportunity to share this exhibition with the community.
The reception takes place during Livingston's Fourth Friday Art Walk from 5:30 to 8 pm at Wheatgrass Books, 120 North Main Street in downtown Livingston. Admission is free and open to the public.
