Do you know a veteran that you would like to acknowledge? Creative Reuse Montana is coordinating the making of homemade thank-you cards for veterans in Park County for Veteran’s Day, in honor of our country’s 250th birthday. The card idea came about as folks were sorting the free/donated resources for cardmaking for the October Craft Swap. They noticed the volume of red, white and blue resources and brainstormed for a community-based use to acknowledge the sacrifices of our local veterans.
Laura White says, “It just seemed like a great reason to bring our community together to make thank-you notes and to support and recognize our veterans for the 250th!”
The Senior Center and Creative Reuse Montana are hosting two more veterans cardmaking dates, on Tuesday, October 20th and Tuesday, October 27th from 1 to 3 pm, at the Senior Center, located at 206 South Main St. All supplies are provided—just bring a friend or family member and some creativity! Laura will be on hand to coordinate resources and give cardmaking ideas and support as needed. There have been a wide range of people participating so far, including seniors, veterans, Park County school students, art-walk attendees, and people attending the 4th of July festivities downtown.
The intention is to include a message of thanks and support to each veteran in the body of the card. When all the cards are made, the American Legion, VFW, Elks Lodge, Senior Center, and the Main Print Shop will help with labeling and mailing.
If friends or family want to pick up a card for a veteran they know, send a text to Laura at (406) 223-0889. The goal is to get a hand-made 250th Anniversary Veteran’s Day card to every veteran in Park County. Let’s do this!
Creative Reuse Montana sources, organizes, and distributes creative supplies to community members and organizations that need them, via outreach, community partnerships, and events.
