Montana Ballet Company is excited to announce its 2026–27 performance season, featuring a mix of classical favorites, new works, and holiday traditions.
“This season reflects Montana Ballet Company’s commitment to honoring the classical ballet tradition while continuing to grow through new choreography, creative collaborations, and innovative performances. We are incredibly excited to share such a dynamic range of performances with our audiences, from the magic of Nutcracker and the romance of Giselle to the creativity of Montana Mix Vol. I. This season highlights the power of dance to inspire, connect, and bring our community together,” said Melissa Bowman, MBC Artistic Director.
The season begins Halloween weekend with Un/Dead & Un/Forgiven at the Ellen Theatre on October 30th and 31st. The program also includes the world premiere of The Raven by choreographer Sasha Janes, along with Dracula and Act II of Giselle. Tickets for this production are available through The Ellen Theatre.
On December 5th and 6th, 2026, MBC presents the 43rd Annual Nutcracker, a co-production with the Bozeman Symphony and Opera Montana at the Willson Auditorium.
Featuring Tchaikovsky’s beloved score, this holiday tradition brings magical storytelling, beautiful choreography, and live music together for audiences of all ages.
On March 6th and 7th, 2027, MBC and the Bozeman Symphony present Giselle at
the Willson Auditorium. Widely regarded as one of the greatest romantic ballets ever created, Giselle tells the heartbreaking story of a young village girl who falls in love with a mysterious nobleman, Albrecht, disguised as a peasant. When she discovers his betrayal, Giselle dies of heartbreak and joins the Wilis, ghostly spirits of women betrayed before their wedding days. In the ballet’s haunting second act, Giselle’s love and forgiveness ultimately save the remorseful Albrecht from the Wilis’ deadly revenge. Combining dramatic storytelling, ethereal choreography, and the power of a live orchestra, this timeless masterpiece remains one of the most moving works in classical ballet.
The season concludes April 28th and 29th, 2027, with Montana Mix Vol. 1 at the Willson Auditorium. This exciting collaboration features Bozeman musician Madeline Hawthorne, the Montana premiere of George Balanchine’s Valse Fantaisie, and a new work set to music by Bozeman composer Eric Funk. The production brings together live music, choreography, and dance in a dynamic season finale.
