Dixie Loraine Simmons passed away on June 10, 2026. She was born on April 10, 1932, in Broadus, Montana to Valentine Hollingsworth and Hazel Witcher. Dixie married Mickey Simmons on April 8, 1951, in Vallejo, California. They had two children, daughter, Sonya Anderson and son, Mickey J Simmons Jr. Mickey began his career in Vallejo as an electrical assistant in the shipyards. The family eventually relocated to Wyoming, where Mickey founded his electrical contracting business in the Salt Creek oil field. He worked there for 29 years. Dixie was the full-time bookkeeper for Simmons Electric. 

Mickey and Dixie loved to dance, water ski and play cards. Dixie loved exploring the outdoors, picking up rocks to paint and helping with Girl Scouts and community events. She always had an outdoor adventure for her family to look forward to. Dixie enjoyed the love and friendship she found within the community at St John’s Episcopal Church in Emigrant, Montana. 

Dixie is survived by her daughter, Sonya (Harold) Anderson; son, Mickey Simmons (Trish Ortiz); grandchildren, Lucas (Angela) Anderson, Olivia (Matthew) McCombs, Amanda Anderson (Mike Siebles), Amy Harrison, and Zachary Simmons (Kristin); great-grandchildren Audra, Kemsley, Ethan, Estell, Manou, Sebastian, Quillen, Araya, Perry, Odin, and Luke; her sister, Patricia Hill; and her nieces, Colleen, Geradine and Lindy.

Dixie’s celebration of life will be held at St John’s Episcopal Church in Emigrant, Montana on September 5, 2026, at 11 am with Reverend Kristin Orr officiating. A potluck luncheon will follow the service at St John’s. Shinning Mountain Extension club will be providing cookies.
