Elk River Books and Elk River Arts & Lectures will host American Prairie founder Sean Gerrity for a reading and conversation about his new book, Wild on Purpose: The American Prairie Story and the Art of Thinking Bigger, on Thursday, June 4th at 7 pm (doors at 6:30 pm) at Elk River Books, 122 S. 2nd Street in Livingston.

Wild on Purpose immerses readers in the obstacles, breakthroughs, and unwavering vision behind the creation of the organization American Prairie, which historian Dan Flores described as “the most exciting environmental idea of the twenty‑first century.” Gerrity explores what it takes to pursue real, lasting change, and challenges readers to imagine a future that goes beyond protecting what remains of the natural world—toward building new wild spaces for wildlife, for the planet, for future generations, and for ourselves.

American Prairie is a Montana‑based conservation organization dedicated to restoring and protecting large‑scale ecosystems. A National Geographic Explorer, Gerrity serves on several global conservation advisory boards, including African People and Wildlife and the Kratt Brothers Creature Hero Foundation. Raised in Great Falls, he now lives in Bozeman with his wife.

For those who can’t attend in person, the event will live-stream on the Elk River Books YouTube channel. For more information, email info@elkriverbooks.com or call (406) 333-2330.
