The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts is bringing the popular Summer Outdoor Concert Series (SOCS) back for a fourth year in 2026. This summer, the fun begins with The Waiting on Thursday, June 4th.

The Waiting is one of America’s most electrifying roadhouse rock & roll bands—and they’ve got a one-track mission: to bring the music of Tom Petty to life with grit, heart, and zero gimmicks.

This isn’t a lookalike act. No wigs, cosplay, or karaoke vibes. Just a group of top-tier musicians channeling the raw soul and swagger of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, his solo catalog, and even his time as Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr. in the Traveling Wilburys. With roaring guitars, locked-in grooves, and vocals that hit you right in the memory bank, The Waiting doesn’t just play Petty’s music—they ignite it.

Formed in 2013, The Waiting has been tearing through the American West, turning first-timers into superfans and longtime Petty lovers into loyal followers. Whether it’s a smash hit like “Refugee” or a deep cut that only the truest fans can hum by heart, they play with a fiery energy and tight musicianship that brings audiences to their feet and keeps them there.

The Waiting is more than a band—it’s a traveling celebration of one of rock’s greatest songwriters. A Petty party that’s loud, proud, and designed to bring fans together through the soundtrack of their lives. This will be their first performance at The Shane Center—what a kickoff for the SOCS season!

Continuing each Thursday through July 30th, The Shane Center presents a free community concert at the Henry Blake pavilion from 5 to 8 pm. On June 11th, SOCS will present Emma and the Ledge, bringing their blues/rock sound to the pavilion stage.

The community is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to the pavilion and enjoy the music. Attendees may also savor rotating options from local food truck vendors and beverages and snacks from the State Farm caboose, including soft drinks, beer, wine, popcorn and more.

There is expanded bicycle parking onsite and additional vehicle parking available at the Lincoln School, 215 E. Lewis Street. The Shane Center is located at 415 E. Lewis Street in Livingston. The event, including food truck service, begins at 4 pm.

This event is brought to you by Marcia McCrum in memory of Bliss McCrum, Pine Creek Lodge, Mighty Fine Time Live Events, and Carol Lalani in memory of Sal Lalani. For more information on The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts, please visit www.theshanecenter.org.
