Center for Large Landscape Conservation, Elk River Books, Elk River Arts & Lectures, and Park County Environmental Council will co‑host a public conversation with award‑winning science journalist Hillary Rosner and Mountain Journal managing editor Joseph O’Connor, followed by an audience Q&A. The event takes place May 29th at Elk River Books, 122 S. 2nd St., Livingston. Doors open at 6:30 pm, with remarks beginning at 7 pm.
Rosner will discuss her new book, ROAM: Reconnecting Wildlife and Our World, an exploration of one of today’s environmental challenges: the fragmentation of ecosystems. Drawing on more than 200 interviews, Rosner examines how fences, roads, farms, and development sever the pathways wildlife need to survive, and how restoring those connections can also help repair our own fractured relationships with place, community, and the natural world. ROAM blends investigative reporting, science writing, and storytelling to illuminate the global movement to reconnect landscapes. Rosner has reported on environmental issues across the globe for National Geographic, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Scientific American, Audubon, and many other outlets.
O'Connor has published work in several magazines and media outlets, including Newsweek, CNN, and Skiing, among others. Before moving to Mountain Journal, he served as editor-in-chief for Mountain Outlaw and Explore Big Sky.
The Center for Large Landscape Conservation advances ecological connectivity for climate resilience worldwide through science, policy, practice, and collaboration. Park County Environmental Council works with the community to safeguard the land, water, wildlife, and people of Yellowstone’s northern gateway.
For those who can’t attend in person, the event will live-stream on the Elk River Books YouTube channel. For more information, email info@elkriverbooks.com or call (406) 333-2330.
