The City of Livingston is providing a statement regarding its Fire and Rescue Department to provide clarity and reassurance to the community in recognition that false information has recently been spread online.

On June 17th, the City Manager placed the Fire Chief on administrative leave pending the completion of an external investigation; according to the City’s Personnel Policy Manual, administrative leave during an investigation is not considered a disciplinary action.

To ensure continuity of operations during the busy summer season, the City Manager appointed Dann Babcox as Interim Fire Chief. Dann previously served as the Fire Chief for Park County Rural Fire District No. 1 for over 17 years. Dann’s experience co-responding to emergencies alongside Livingston Fire and Rescue personnel helps ensure that the City remains prepared to respond to community needs. A longtime first-responder, Chief Babcox was born and raised in Livingston and has deep understanding of central Park County’s emergency response network.

The City would also like to reassure the community that no significant changes are expected to the Department’s fire and ambulance operations. The county voter-approved ambulance levy remains in place for two more years and the approved City budget includes an increase in funding for the
