Montana InSite Theatre will bring its newest production, “Resounding Spring,” to Livingston for a special outdoor performance at Paradise Permaculture Institute (PPI) on Friday, June 26th. This performance is one of only three offerings, with the first and third showings held at Story Mill Park in Bozeman and the Tippet Rise Art Center in Stillwater County.
Inspired by Rachel Carson’s groundbreaking 1962 book, Silent Spring, “Resounding Spring” celebrates the sounds of our ecosystems—especially birds—and invites audiences to reflect on the beauty and fragility of the natural world. Carson’s work was integral to awakening public awareness about the dangers of pesticides and the possibility of a world without birdsong, healthy habitats, and flourishing ecosystems, a message that ultimately helped shape the environmental movement. This performance carries that spirit forward through art, music, movement, poetry, and dramatic scenes.
This ambulant, immersive experience will lead audiences through the grounds of Paradise Permaculture Institute, where each artistic encounter has been chosen to connect with the varied plantings and landscapes of the site—from the pond and the sacred circle of Russian sage to food-bearing plantings and the voices of the avian world. As audiences move through the land, they will listen to music, view art, and experience words and scenes that encourage us to live in greater harmony with nature.
Paradise Permaculture Institute is honored to welcome Montana InSite Theatre to Livingston. The missions of each organization beautifully overlap, as PPI works to demonstrate how people can restore soil, strengthen biodiversity, grow food, and care for the earth. Montana InSite Theatre brings these same themes to life through creative, thoughtful, and deeply engaging performance art, making this event both meaningful and entertaining for the community.
Each walking tour, led by one of Montana InSite Theatre’s actors, will last approximately 70 minutes and will stop at six outdoor scenes, each staffed by several performers. Three tours will be offered, departing 30 minutes a part, at 5, 5:30, and 6 pm.
The production includes 14 actors and three actor/guides. Some actors are from Livingston, making this event especially meaningful for our local community.
Tickets are free but space is limited to only 60 total slots. Early registration is therefore strongly encouraged. To reserve a spot, visit Montana InSite Theatre’s current production page at www.montanainsitetheatre.org/currentproduction. Please arrive early so that your group can begin together. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk through the outdoor performance areas.
We look forward to welcoming the community to this beautiful celebration of art, birdsong, land, and our shared responsibility to care for the living world around us.
