Elk River Books and Elk River Arts & Lectures present New York Times bestselling author Kevin Fedarko in conversation with author and editor Tim Cahill to celebrate Fedarko’s paperback edition of his acclaimed adventure memoir, A Walk in the Park: The True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon, on Sunday, June 21st at Elk River Books, 122 S. 2nd St., Livingston. Doors open at 2:30 pm and the program begins at 3 pm.

Described as "part memoir, part travelogue, part extended essay on the profound meaning of wilderness,” A Walk in the Park tells the story of two friends with no preparation and one shining dream: a 750-mile odyssey on foot through one of America’s magnificent national parks.

Fedarko has spent the past 20 years writing about conservation, exploration, and the Grand Canyon. He has been a staff writer at Time, where he worked primarily on the foreign affairs desk, and a senior editor at Outside, where he covered outdoor adventure. A Walk in the Park won the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction. He is also the author of The Emerald Mile: The Epic Story of the Fastest Ride in History Through the Heart of the Grand Canyon, which won the Reading the West Book Award, and He and his wife, Annette Avery—owner of Bright Side Bookshop—live in Flagstaff, Arizona, where they spend as much of their free time as possible hiking in the Grand Canyon or in the mountains just outside of town.

Livingston writer Tim Cahill is the author of nine books, including A Wolverine Is Eating My Leg, Jaguars Ripped My Flesh, and Pass the Butterworms. He is an editor at large for Outside magazine, and his work appears in National Geographic Adventure, The New York Times Book Review, and other national publications.

For those who can’t attend in person, the event will live-stream on the Elk River Books YouTube channel. For more information, email info@elkriverbooks.com or call (406) 333-2330.
